The Bison leaves a message. .

By uniting the mundane and the divine appropriately, all that would be needed would be available.  (read to the end)

Sometimes we wonder how we are going to make it? How are we going to get through the month? And it can really be overwhelming.  It all begins with the first step.  For me, it was going into town and handing out my new business cards. Always an exciting and nervous time. Did I make them too wild? Will anyone understand? Will they read it?  Sometimes, we have to blow through the comfort zone and just get going.

Today, I got some positive feedback on my cards, which was a welcome treat. As one of the shop vendors turned my card over she asked “What is the significance of the Bison” to which I almost jumped for joy to share this story!  Why because I was on a grand adventure to Arroyo Grande, when I was intersected with the message the Bison brought me.  SO here it is:

I was instructed to go there to connect with some information I was to receive from my native ancestral friends. Not quite sure what that means, I decided to go.  At this time in my life, I did not have a place to live yet – but knew I was aiming to live in BEND, OR. I pIMG_2593ut all my stuff in storage and Layla my pup and I did a tour down south. On our way back up, we stopped in Arroyo Grande for this adventure.  It was pure flow, I was quiet enough to listen to all the clues.  So I ended up aiming for a street called Peace Project Way and on the way there, I saw three Bison in a field pen.  I passed them, but halted shortly after because I thought Layla might enjoy seeing what a Bison is.  She used to be a backyard dog, so now I always like to introduce other four legged s to her.  It wasn’t until the next day when I intuited that I needed to clean a medicine wheel that I saw the Bison in the medicine wheel.

According to Wikipedia – Medicine wheels, or sacred hoops, are either a symbol of indigenous North American culture and religion, or stone monuments related to this symbol. The monuments were constructed by laying stones in a particular pattern on the ground oriented to the four directions. Most medicine wheels follow the basic pattern of having a center of stone(s), and surrounding that is an outer ring of stones with “spokes”, or lines of rocks radiating from the center with the spokes facing East, South, West and North following the cardinal directions. Some ancient types of sacred architecture were built by laying stones on the surface of the ground in particular patterns common to aboriginal people. Originally, medicine wheels were stone structures constructed by a large number of the tribes or nations of indigenous peoples of America for religious, ritual, healing, and teaching purposes. Medicine wheels are still “opened” or inaugurated in Native American spirituality where, by certain tribes or groups, they are referred to as “sacred hoops”. There are various native words to describe the ancient forms and types of rock alignments. The most prevalent and used involves the four directions.

I was dropped off there by a woman who is called Whitefeather, and while I was walking this Medicine Wheel another woman came out and said that it was a mess because kids had put stones all over it.  I asked her if it was okay if I cleaned it up.  She gave me a rake and I got to work. The meditation and discovery in the process was worth it.  See on the plaque the reference for the Bison?

ABUNDANCE = LIFE = GRATITUDE – WINTER the season I was soon approaching. To the right you can see that there was a stone with the Bison on it.  While I was in this process I knew I had to locate a place to live in Bend, and like most of us KNOWING that there is something to fall on is much easier than being in allowance and HOPING, however, there in lies our lessons.

After that, at my friend’s house I looked up the meaning of the Bison.  This is a message I share with all of you.

The Bison is a symbol of abundance and the manifestation and sacred life. The appearance of the buffalo/bison that prayers are being heard and that the promise of prophecy are being heard.  Buffalo was the major source of sustenance for the Plains Indians.  It gave meat for food, hides for clothing, warm and soft buffalo robes for long winters and hooves for glue.  The medicine of the Buffalo is payer, gratitude and praise for that which is received. Buffalo medicine is also knowing that abundance is present when all relations are honored as sacred, and when gratitude is expressed to every living part of creation.  Buffalo medicine is a sign that you achieve nothing without the aid of the Great Spirit and that you must be humble enough to ask that assistance and then be grateful for what you receive.

Part of what the White Buffalo woman taught to the Lakota is that they did not have to struggle to survive if the right action was joined with the right prayer. By uniting the mundane and the divine appropriately, all that would be needed would be available.  The bison is a large animal and can weigh up to a ton and a half.  It has a massive head, humped shoulders, and an almost exaggerated appearance because if it’s shaggy fur.  Humps are often symbolic of stored forces – reservoirs that can be tapped. In the case of the bison, it reflects the abundance that is available if we know how to tap it.  The fact that the hump occurs at the shoulder level, implies that we must incorporate our own efforts. Shoulders are symbols of the ability to embrace and hold life.  Upon shoulders are carried either our burdens or our rewards.  The humped area on the shoulders implies the need for our own efforts.  The massive head also implies the need to combine our efforts with the Divine.  The head is the upper region. It is a symbol of the heaves and the divine, the higher faculties.  In the case of the bison, both aspects are amplified. Both the mundane and the spiritual is necessary for manifesting what we are seeking. The bison is very unpredictable and can be dangerous. This can serve as warning about not keeping yourself well- grounded as you begin to work towards greater abundance in some area of your life.  It is a four-footed animal and thus implies grounded-ness. The bison also usually follows the easiest path. When we join the right action with the right prayers, the path is not difficult.  We do not have to bull our way through. The path opens and flows easily.  If the bison shows up for you it may indicate opportunities to manifest or move toward manifesting abundance in some areas of your life.  This has hidden within it several cautionary notes, though. This is not a time to push or force. Follow the easiest path.  10/5/2014

The appearance of the buffalo also implies that the law of synchronicity is operating within your life at the moment.  Things will happen in the time, manner and means that is best for us if we allow it.  This doesn’t mean we should sit back and do nothing, but rather that we should do what we have to do and then let the events take their natural course.

It’s nice to get from point A to Point B. and there are ways of forcing it. If you force it though, you may end up at the destination at a time when there is nothing to be gained. If you allow the natural flow to take you, you still end up your destination, at an advantageous time and you usually get some nice side trips along the way. Bison teaches us how to work with that natural rhythm.

This is why I AM so excited to share the message of this beautiful creature, the BISON.  Shortly, after these message I did get the most perfect house in BEND, OR. When all the odds were ‘supposedly’ stacked against me, I landed the most amazing and beautifully located home for me and Layla.  The BISON message is one for all of us to learn about.  I AM grateful to share this message with you.
