What is a Mystery Shopper?

A mystery shopper is a person or service who visits a place of business, retail store or restaurant for the purpose of observing and measuring the quality of service, presentation, experience and the total retail environment of the establishment in general.

How often is your social media being projected and is it being utilized correctly? Does your website have the proper information to drive traffic into your business?  While shopping in the establishment, what kind of feeling is the experience generating? Are your sales team warm and friendly or do they keep to themselves?  Are they helpful in inspiring purchasing suggestions? Are they inviting new possibilities for your customers?

 

The Company Evaluation is a 33 point review to establish what areas of business are a success and what areas are challenged, in the categories of Customer Service, Social Media & Marketing, Retail Experience.  The intent of this evaluation is point out the areas in which your company can improve and to increase traffic to your location, keep your customers and invite through their experience to be your word of mouth marketing team.  Zan’s intent is to get results, so you smile more, receive more and give gratitude for the additional profits rolling through your account.

 

How can a Mystery Shopping experience increase your sales?

As business owners we are generally doing the BEST WE CAN. Who wants to hear what is not working? Not me, you might say… but that is where the feedback comes from, our customers.  Most customers will tell you what is wrong with your business and some might tell you what is right, that is if they have a business of their own, but generally most will only know how to complain.  A Mystery Shopper who knows business is shopping the experience looking for the full spectrum of what is working and what can be improved upon.  For example, is your merchandise easily accessible, is your front door easy to enter, is your furniture clean, is there enough toilet paper in your bathroom, can people find you on facebook through a basic search, are you store hours on your website… these are all questions that seem small but can have an impact if they are out of alignment with your business’ message or mission statement.  Recently, Zan was in a restaurant in Mt. Shasta, ordering food and as she waited for her food she saw a hanging sign that was in front of the food area with cobwebs all over it.  A Mystery Shopper might notice that and make those suggestions, so that your customers don’t. Customers who see cobwebs in a food establishment might never come back again.  The more you know what can be improved upon with your business, the easier it will be to focus on how to impact more of your customers through marketing. The goal is to keep the customers you have and grow your base, not lose customers. If your business is lacking in any key area, you will definitely lose customers. You increase your sales, by keeping the customers you have and inviting them to tell their friends how much they love your business!
